OHS Choral Department 2010-2011

Choirs

There are 4 choirs in which a student may participate. The Concert Choir (meets 5th period) is for 10-12th grade students and is selected by audition only. The ladies choir, or SSAA Choir, (meets 4th period) is also an auditioned group of 10-12th grade girls who love to sing. Last years SSAA Choir was the first Choir from OHS to ever receive a Superior Rating at the Ole Miss Choral Festival. The Men's Choir is selected from all men who are presently enrolled in any choral group at OHS and meet on Thursday evenings. The Varsity Choirs are non-auditioned choirs of students who wish to learn more about music and who love to sing. There are presently over 90 students enrolled in the Varsity Choirs and over 180 total in all four groups.

Ensembles

The ensembles are specially selected smaller groups chosen from within the Choral Department enrolled students. These ensembles include a ladies sextet, men's quartet, OHS Varsity Ensemble, and the newly formed Ladies Junior Varsity Ensemble. These highly advanced and specially selected students also compete in various contests and festivals throughout the year. To participate in any ensemble or choir in an off-campus activity, a student must have at least a 2.0 GPA and no attendance or discipline issues.
