Department of Technology

More than just installing software or repairing computers, the technology staff is charged with creating and maintaining a robust, secure, and reliable data communication system for the Oxford School District community – students, staff, and parents. Staff and students utilize this resource daily via more than 1300 networked computers and 19 computer labs/computer-based classrooms. Interactive devices such as LCD projectors, interactive whiteboards and notepads, student response systems, and document cameras enable teachers to tap vast online resources for new, up-to-date teaching resources and methods. The district network provides staff and students with immediate access to more information than ever before.

Numerous technology resources are used to help achieve the district goal of improving communication between schools, teachers and parents. Email communication has become a staple in our schools and classrooms, and all district staff members are provided email accounts. Online applications like eSembler, our district grade book program, provide parents with online access to monitor their student’s academic progress. Improved data collection and reporting methods are being used to enhance the quality of education for every student. New and improved websites for each school are being designed to provide more relevant and up-to-date information on classroom, school and district activities.
