Curriculum and Instruction

The Office of Curriculum and Instruction is designed to assist administrators, interventionists, teachers and paraprofessionals in improving classroom instruction through implementing the Mississippi Curriculum Frameworks and the Common Core State Standards. It is our goal to provide all students in the Oxford School District an excellent education Pre-K -12 so they will graduate high school fully prepared for college and careers.

The Mississippi Department of Education has adopted the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) for the State of Mississippi. The Common Core State Standards were developed by the National Governors Association and the Council of Chief State School Officers. This is a historic opportunity for states to collectively develop and adopt a core set of academic standards in Mathematics and English/Language Arts. The implementation process for the 2011-2012 school year will begin with K-2. Please visit the links available to learn more about the Common Core State Standards and the implementation timeline for the State of Mississippi.
